Uniformed Service member transitioning to civilian work

What is the DoD SkillBridge Program?

SkillBridge allows eligible active-duty Service members to spend up to their final 180 days of service in a civilian work environment gaining industry experience and training.

How it works

  • Service members remain on active duty and continue receiving pay, housing allowance, and healthcare through the DoD

  • The internship period is zero-cost from a compensation perspective

  • Participation is intended to lead to civilian employment (high-probability pathway to hire)
